A Seat At The Table
Turning Tables’ annual dance performance fundraiser
Turning Tables was founded in 2017 with A Seat At the Table as its inaugural event. A direct response to the discriminatory practices embedded in the dance world at large, Turning Tables and A Seat At The Table addressed issues of underrepresentation, bias, and unequal standards being placed upon dancers of color.
A Seat At the Table is a thought-provoking and catalyzing dance show that invites dancers, artists, and creative thinkers to choreograph based on the five pillars of Turning Tables: Underrepresentation, Bias, Standard, Acceptance, and Pride.
A Seat At the Table invites audience members to take a seat at the table and learn about the discrimination that exists within the dance world in order to enrich their understandings of the world around them.
