Compensation
This is an unpaid internship designed to provide hands-on, career-building experience within a growing arts organization. Interns will receive direct mentorship, meaningful project ownership, opportunities to build a professional portfolio, expand their network within the arts and nonprofit sectors, and present a culminating final project that reflects their work and growth over the course of the program.
About Turning Tables
Turning Tables is a dance organization dedicated to expanding access and opportunity for Black and Brown dancers. Through performance, artist development, and community-based programming, the organization supports the advancement of underrepresented artists while fostering greater equity within the dance field. Turning Tables also engages in educational and advocacy-driven work that examines and challenges systemic barriers impacting Black and Brown bodies in the arts.
Program Overview
The Turning Tables Internship Program is designed for emerging arts leaders, creatives, and administrators who are eager to gain hands-on experience working within a growing nonprofit arts organization.
Interns will work closely with founder Camryn Stafford and collaborate across departments including development, marketing, and production. This is a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment where interns will gain real-world experience while contributing meaningfully to ongoing initiatives.
We are offering 2 internship positions for Summer 2026.
Internship Structure
Interns will engage in a collaborative, cross-functional role with the opportunity to shape their experience based on their interests and strengths. Each intern will gain exposure across departments while developing a deeper focus in one of the following areas:
Development (Grant Writing & Fundraising)
Marketing & Social Media
Production & Events
Operational Management
Key Responsibilities
Conduct grant research and assist with compiling funding materials
Support marketing and social media campaigns, including content creation and scheduling
Assist with general administrative tasks and organizational systems
Contribute to event planning and execution (including SITT, Open Table Series, and PIVOTT)
Research partnerships, collaborators, and growth opportunities
Work cross-functionally with team members on various initiatives
Final Project
All interns will complete a final project, presented at the end of the internship. Projects may include:
A marketing campaign proposal
A grant portfolio or funding strategy
A creative production or documentation project
A research-based initiative aligned with Turning Tables programming
Ideal Candidate
Interested in arts administration, nonprofit work, marketing, or dance
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Passionate about equity, storytelling, and the performing arts
Familiarity with social media platforms

Position Overview:
Turning Tables Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to providing resources and opportunities to dancers of color, is seeking a Part-Time Development Associate to support its fundraising efforts. The successful candidate will work closely with the Development Director to help strengthen donor relationships, assist with event coordination, and support various fundraising campaigns. This role is perfect for a motivated individual who is passionate about creating positive change and has experience in nonprofit development or a related field.
Key Responsibilities:
Donor Relations: Assist with outreach and donor stewardship by maintaining accurate records, sending acknowledgments, and managing communication to cultivate relationships with current and potential supporters.
Fundraising Campaigns: Help with the planning and execution of direct mail, digital fundraising campaigns, and peer-to-peer fundraising efforts to meet financial goals.
Event Coordination: Support the organization and execution of fundraising events, such as galas, community outreach events, and virtual fundraisers. Responsibilities include managing vendors, logistics, guest lists, and event timelines.
Grant Writing and Research: Assist with researching potential grant opportunities, drafting proposals, and maintaining a calendar of submission deadlines.
Database Management: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of donor information in the CRM (e.g., Salesforce) by regularly updating records, tracking contributions, and generating reports.
Reporting: Collaborate with the Development Director to prepare and present progress reports, fundraising updates, and analysis of ongoing campaigns.
Marketing Support: Work with the marketing team to create donor communication materials, including newsletters, social media content, and promotional materials for campaigns and events.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in nonprofit development or fundraising is preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and GSuite; experience with donor management software (e.g., Salesforce or similar) is a plus
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

This role will support the Executive Director in developing and executing marketing strategies to enhance the organization’s visibility and engage supporters. The ideal candidate will have strong digital marketing skills, a passion for storytelling, and a commitment to the mission of Turning Tables Inc.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation: Assist in creating engaging content for social media, email campaigns, and the website, including blog posts, graphics, videos, and promotional materials.
Social Media Management: Help manage and grow Turning Tables Inc.'s presence across social media platforms (e.g., Meta, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube), including posting updates, engaging with followers, and tracking performance metrics.
Email Marketing: Support the planning and execution of email marketing campaigns, including drafting newsletters, updating email lists, and analyzing campaign results.
Event Promotion: Collaborate with the development team to promote fundraising events and other initiatives through digital and traditional marketing channels.
Website Updates: Assist with maintaining and updating the organization's website, ensuring timely and accurate information, optimizing SEO, and enhancing the user experience.
Analytics and Reporting: Track the effectiveness of marketing efforts by monitoring key metrics (e.g., social media engagement, website traffic, email open rates) and reporting results to the Executive Director.
Brand Management: Help ensure consistency in brand messaging across all communications and marketing channels, adhering to Turning Tables Inc.'s mission and values.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in marketing, communications, or a related field is preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing tools
Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) are a plus
Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp) and website management (e.g., Squarespace) is an asset
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Turning Tables Inc. is always looking for dedicated volunteers who share our passion for empowering dancers, and providing opportunities and resources for dancers of color. By joining our volunteer team, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute your time, skills, and enthusiasm to help our mission. Whether it’s assisting at fundraising events, providing administrative support, or lending a hand with community outreach, your involvement will make a difference.
Volunteer Opportunities Include:
Event Support: Help with the planning, setup, and execution of fundraising events, community gatherings, workshops and other initiatives. Volunteers may assist with registration, logistics, or event promotion.
Administrative Support: Assist with office tasks such as data entry, organizing materials, and preparing mailings to support our programs and development efforts.
Outreach and Engagement: Help with community outreach initiatives, including distributing flyers, promoting Turning Tables Inc.’s services and programs, and engaging with potential partners or participants.
Specialized Skills: If you have a particular skill or expertise (e.g., graphic design, photography, grant writing), we welcome you to share those talents to support our mission.

Board of Directors Position responsibilities include:
- Serve 2-5 hours a month to attend Board meetings and attend to Board business/deliverables or support Turning Tables Inc. events
- Review and vote on Turning Tables Inc annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
- Review outcomes and metrics created by Turning Tables Inc for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring performance and effectiveness using those metrics
- Contribute to the organization’s Annual Report
- Assist in identifying, recruiting, and nominating potential Board Members
- Partner with other board members where appropriate to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
- Serve on committees and taking on special assignments and projects to support Turning Tables Inc and the Executive Director
- Represent Turning Tables Inc to stakeholders; serving as an ambassador for the organization
- Commit to a minimum annual financial donation of $1000 annually or fundraise $2000 annually.
